Problem
This technote details why a general error occurs in the graphical user interface, []cleardiffmrg[], when trying to complete a compare or merge operation in IBM® Rational® ClearCase®.
Symptom
Attempts to compare or merge files from the GUI results in the following message:
An error in cleardiffmrg has occurred. This may have resulted from the use of vertical tabs or a line of text that is too long and exceeds the functional limits of the cleardiffmrg tool. If this is an XML file use the XML Diff Merge tool instead. Doing the Diff Merge from the command line is also an option.
