Clean Uninstallation of SPSS Statistics in Windows

This document provides a comprehensive guide for performing a clean uninstallation of IBM SPSS Statistics on Windows operating systems. Whether upgrading to a newer version or troubleshooting installation issues, ensuring the complete removal of all program components is essential.

Step1: Uninstall software via Control Panel

(i)Open Control Panel

(ii)Click On Programs

(iii)Right click on IBM SPSS Statistics and uninstall, please wait for 5-6 min till the uninstallation completes from Control panel.

Step2: Files and folder deletion from file explorer:

(i) Go to the folder C:\Program Files\IBM, If you see the folder "SPSS Statistics"  then delete it.

(ii) Copy path “%USERPROFILE%\Appdata\Roaming\IBM\SPSS Statistic” and paste in the file explorer as below . This is taking you to your user profile path. Once there delete any folders you see listed in that SPSS Statistics directory.

(iii) Go to: C:\Program Files\Common Files\IBM\SPSS, If you see a COM folder please rename to OLDCOM

Step3: Delete Registry Key:

(i) Search for "Registry Editor" and "Run as Administrator"

(ii) Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER | Software | JavaSoft | Prefs | com | ibm |/S/P/S/S, If you see a folder that begin with /Statistics please delete

(iii) Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IBM, If you see a "SPSS Statistics" folder delete it

Uninstallation has been completed. Now you can proceed with installation of latest version SPSS Statistics.
