Problem
This technote identifies a potential resolution to the error, Class does not support Automation or does not support expected interface, which might occur when opening an IBM® Rational® RequisitePro® project on a system where the Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) might be corrupt.
Cause
The error, Class does not support Automation or does not support expected interface, commonly occurs when the MDAC on the local system has been compromised or corrupted.
Resolving The Problem
To resolve this error you will have to install or reinstall a compatible version of MDAC.
To check the current version of MDAC installed on a workstation, download the MDAC Utility Component Checker tool from Microsoft's website.
