This document contains CICS IA configuration overview with its pre-requisites. The document is illustrated with a flow chart that explains the whole process of CICS IA installation in the CICS region.

OVERVIEW

  1. CICS IA configuration is used to configure IA environment in the CICS region.
  2. CICS IA uses an ISPF dialog that runs REXX execs to assist you in configuring your CICS IA environments.
  3. To create CICS IA environments:
  • CICS IA takes SMP/e target data sets as input.
  • Updates the required members with the variable names you provide.
  • Saves the information to customized output data sets, which are then used to create CICS IA environments.

CICS IA CONFIGURATION PRE-REQUISITES 
1.  Z/OS Explorer
      - CICS IA plug-in
  • 2.  Z/OS
  •     - CICS TS
  •     - SMPE target datasets
  •      - ISPF profile datasets
  1. ISPPROF
  2. ISPTABL
INITIAL SETUP TO CONFIGURE IA
To configure CICS IA, Run REXX execs using ISPF dialog.
DB2 CONFIGURATION
  1. CICS IA stores collected data in CICS IA database.
  2. ISPF dialog to input the DB2 variables.
  3. DB2 variables will create output datasets for DB2 configuration.
  4. Run task under the output datasets to create DB2 environment.
COLLECTOR CONFIGURATION
  1. CICS IA collector uses GLUE and TRUE to collect the data.
  2. Stores the collected data in VSAM files and user log streams
  3. ISPF dialog to input the variables
  4. Input variables will create output datasets for collector configuration.
  5. Run task under the output datasets to create collector environment.
UDB CONFIGURATION 
  1. CICS IA provides jobs to unload CICS IA data into CSV files
  2. These CSV files will create UDB databases.
