Summary
This document shows the steps needed to change the IP address of the Service Tools LAN Adapter used for LAN console connections.
Steps
Follow these directions to change the Service Tools LAN Adapter on the IBM i:
- Get a 5250 Telnet connection to the system. Note: It is not advised performing this procedure from an active console session.
- Run command STRSST to log in to System Service Tools as QSECOFR (or a profile with similar authority)
- Option 8- Work with service tools user IDs and devices
- Option 4- Configure service tools LAN adapter (At V7R4 and later this is now Option 3)
- Modify the Internet Address, Gateway Router Address and Subnet Mask to show the new network-assigned information.
- Hit F7 to store that information
- Hit F17 to Deactivate Followed by Activate
Now ensure that you are cabled to the proper network.
