Certain users cannot see the Cognos Viewer Toolbar when viewing reports

Troubleshooting


Problem

When viewing reports, certain users cannot see the Toolbar that would normally allow them to view the report in different formats.

Resolving The Problem

Ensure that the user in question has Execute permission on the Toolbar capability underneath the Cognos Viewer capability, and that the user has Execute and Traverse on the Cognos Viewer capability.

The Traverse on the Cognos Viewer capability is required to allow the user to have access to the control list for the child-objects.

Steps:
  1. Log into Cognos Connection as a directory administrator.
  2. Click Tools and select Capabilities.
  3. Select Set Properties beside Cognos Viewer.
  4. Click the Permissions tab, and ensure that user or one of the groups they're a member of has Execute and Traverse permissions.
  5. Click OK to return to the Capabilities screen.
  6. Click the Cognos Viewer capability.
  7. Select Set Properties beside Toolbar.
  8. Click the Permissions tab, and ensure that user or one of the groups they're a member of has Execute permission.
