Symptom

With Broadcom NetXtreme I devices, certain settings cannot be set with Advanced Settings Utility (ASU) to certain ranges. The iSCSI IP address fields cannot be set with ASU to an IP address containing a single digit.

Use the ASU tool to set item to an iSCSI IP address to, for example, "0.0.0.0", and the system will show "is not a valid value for setting" message.

The system is configured with one or more of the following IBM Option part numbers:

• Broadcom NetXtreme I Dual-Port GbE Adapter for IBM System x, Option part number 90Y9370, any model
• Broadcom NetXtreme I Quad-Port GbE Adapter for IBM System x, Option part number 90Y9352, any model

Solution

This behavior will be corrected in a future release of Broadcom NX1 firmware.

The target date for this release is scheduled for first quarter 2016.

Workaround

For single-digit IP addresses to be accepted, pad each single digit with a leading 0. For example, for the IP address of "1.1.1.1" enter "01.01.01.01".

Additional information

This issue occurs because the current Broadcom NX1 UEFI driver does not allow single-digit IP address patterns to be used via System x tools.

The fix resolves this issue be providing an updated UEFI driver that will allow single-digit IP addresses to be accepted, including "0.0.0.0".
