Question & Answer
Question
Where can I find the descriptions of the reason codes surfaced by the CBR4171I message?
Answer
The description of the reason codes surfaced by the CBR4171I message can be found in the IBM Documentation for TS7700.
The CBR4171I message is surfaced when a mount request fails within the TS7700. When the TS7700 fails the mount request, the TS7700 returns a mount completion code of x'4E' (Failed Virtual Volume Mount) to the host, as well as the reason for the failure (designated by the reason code). The reason code is surfaced in the CBR4171I message.
The following links can be used to access the description of the reason codes:
For Release 4.0 of the TS7700 Virtualization Engine:
For Release 4.1 of the TS7700 Virtualization Engine:
For Release 4.2 of the TS7700 Virtualization Engine:
For Release 5.0 of the TS7700 Virtualization Engine:
For Release 5.1 of the TS7700 Virtualization Engine:
For Release 5.2 of the TS7700 Virtualization Engine:
As the completion code and reason code are set by the TS7700, to pursue why a particular reason code was surfaced, clients should open a case to the TS7700 product so that TS7700 Support can determine more information about why the TS7700 failed the mount and set that reason code.
