Question

Carrier Types

Answer

Carrier Types

Use carrier types to organize and sort your carriers.

Each shipper defines the carrier as one of the following typesfor each shipping lane:

  • Primary
  • Secondary
  • Backup
You assign carrier types to help manage the tendering process. When you tender shipments you can offer the load to the followingcarrier types:
  • Primary carriers that are eligible to take this shipment
  • Primary and secondary carriers that are eligible to take thisshipment
  • All carriers that are eligible to take the shipment (primarysecondary and backup)
  • Secondary carriers that are eligible to take this shipment
  • Backup carriers that are eligible to take this shipment
  • Secondary and backup carriers that are eligible to take this shipment
As the shipper administrator you use Route Guide rules and RouteGuide Parameters to assign the default carrier types that are usedduring the tendering process. An Execution user can override the defaultcarrier types for a specific shipment.
