Cannot use "Export Data" with local hard drive via Citrix or Terminal Services, if compression is enabled

Troubleshooting

Problem

Customer is delivering Controller client via Citrix (or Microsoft Terminal Services). User clicks "Transfer - Export Data". Inside the "Directory" box, user browses to their local PC's hard drive (e.g. to C:\TEMP). User attempts to export data to this folder. This appears to work. However, when the user checks their folder, the file is not there.

Symptom

The data export appears to have completed successfully.

However, when the user looks at their desktop/laptop PC's hard drive, there is no file inside the folder. Instead, the file is located on the Citrix or Terminal Server.

If the user tries to repeat the export, they receive the message:
The file \Client\C$\temp\xxxxx.FZD already exists. Do you want to replace it?

Example:

  • Microsoft Terminal Services:

If using Terminal Server, and the user chooses C:\TEMP, then (inside "Export Data") the folder will appear as: \\tsclient\C\temp

After the export is completed, on the Terminal Server (not the end user's PC, as intended) there will exist the file inside a folder: C:\tsclient\C\temp

  • Citrix:

If using Citrix, and the user chooses C:\TEMP, then (inside "Export Data") the folder will appear as: \\Client\C$\temp

After the export is completed, on the Citrix Server (not the end user's PC, as intended) there will exist the file inside a folder: C:\client\d$\temp
