Cannot Test a Successful Database Connect with Connx ODBC drivers.

Troubleshooting

Problem

Attempted to test a new database definition via Connx ODBC drivers against a database on Alpha Open MVS and received Query Server error messages: Data services are not available. Impromptu is unavailable. DMS-E-CONNECTREJECT, A connection has been rejected by the remote interface during operation 'attach database'. Unable to open the server.

Resolving The Problem

1. Make sure the User or System DSN is configured properly with a unique
and valid *.CDD file.
(Start menu, Settings, Control Panel, ODBC Data Sources)

2. Test a successful connection and query session outside of Impromptu with
Connx utility via the the same ODBC drivers.

3. Make sure the database account has enough privileges and access rights to
connect to the database.

4. Conduct an ODBC trace in Impromptu:
- Start Impromptu.
- From the Tools menu, click ODBC Trace (Dr.DeeBee becomes minimized on the taskbar).
- Attempt to test the database definition.
- Close Impromptu.
- Right-click the Dr.DeeBee button on the taskbar, and then click Close to shutdown the ODBC trace
* Drdeebee.log is located ...\WinNT or ...\Windows directory.

5. Contact Connx support for any connectivity issues and to obtain the latest drivers.
