Cannot install/uninstall Maximo Project Adapter for client

Troubleshooting


Problem

Maximo Project Adapter for client cannot be installed/uninstalled and gives an error code "0x80004005".

Symptom

When installing Maximo Project Adapter, you might get error "The module "MXMSProject.dll was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0X80004005".

When uninstalling Maximo Project Adapter, you might also get error "The module "MXMSProject.dll" was loaded but the call to DllUnregisterServer failed with error code 0X80004005".

Environment

Client OS : Windows 7

Resolving The Problem

Try to install/uninstall MS Project Adapter for client on a Windows 7 machine.

You might get this error: "The module 'MXMSProject.dll' was loaded but the call to DllUnregisterServer/DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0X80004005".

You need to run "maxmsproject.exe" with "Run as administrator" in order to fix this error.

- Right-click on maxmsproject.exe.

- Click 'Run as administrator'

Error 0X80004005 will then be fixed and you will be able to proceed with installing/uninstalling MS Project Adapter.

N.B.: Maximo Project Adapter client DLL is a 32-bit DLL. Make sure that 32-bit version of MS Project should be used.
