Cannot create new Publish Container when using Native Client

Troubleshooting


Problem

After installing the Native Client addition on SQL Server 2005, the user is unable to create new Publish Containers. Using the Native Client (SQLNCLI) it is possible to Publish to Containers created with the standard client (SQLOLEDB).

Symptom

Unable to create new container. The connection to the datastore failed. Please check your connection details.

and in the PlanningErrorLog.csv:

Provider has not been set and cannot derive from ProviderDriverString:(SQLNCLI)
