Cannot connect to Wesphere Application Server from IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment Tool

Question


The following error is generated when connecting to Websphere Application Server from IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment Tool. How can it be resolved?

CWPKI0033E: The keystore located at "/web/WebSphere/AppServer/profiles/AppSrv01/etc/trust.p12" failed to load due to the following error: Integrity check failed: java.security.NoSuchAlgorithmException: no such algorithm: HmacPBESHA256 for provider IBMJCE.

Cause


An IBM Content Navigator version lower than 3.0.15, such as version 3.0.11 has its bundled JRE.

When IBM Content Navigator has different JRE version from Websohere Application Server, IBM Content Navigator JRE fails to open the Webpshere Application Server trust store trust.p12 with the error "no such algorithm: HmacPBESHA256 for provider IBMJCE" because this trust store was created with a newer JRE version using HmacPBESHA256 signature algorithm.



Answer

To resolve this issue, follow the instructions to change the JRE path under -vm to the Websphere Application Server JRE path.

  • Back up the existing /.../ECMClient/configure/configmgr.ini on IBM Content Navigator Server.
  • Modify configmgr.ini by changing ../jre/bin under -vm to Websphere Application Server  JRE path. By default, Websphere Application Server JRE path is /opt/IBM/WebSphere/AppServer/java/8.0/jre/bin on Unix and C:\Program Files\IBM\Websphere\AppServer\java\8.0\jre\bin on Windows.
  • Save the change
  • Re-launch IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment Tool to connect to Websphere Application Server.
