Can a z/OSMF Configuration Assistant backing store file be moved from one instance of z/OSMF to another instance of z/OSMF?

Answer

There are two options available to you:

Using the first option, the backing store file is located by default in the HFS directory:

  • V1R13 users: /var/zosmf/data/app/CAV1R13/backingStore

  • V2R1 users: /var/zosmf/data/app/CAV2R1/backingStore

You can use FTP binary transfer to the other system if you know the destination backing store file location.

Using the second option, from z/OSMF CA, select Action-->Tools-->Extract the backing store file to z/OS unix file or MVS directory Then transfer the file by using FTP binary to the other system. The extracted file is in binary format.
Then from the z/OSMF on the other system, you can select
Action-->Tools-->Transfer backing store file to z/OSMF
