Building a cube in IBM i2 Data Miner for Analyst's Notebook / Analyst's Workstation results in error message

Problem

If you attempt to build a cube on IBM i2 Data Miner / Analyst's Workstation, you may receive the following error: "Unable to connect to Analysis Services. The last attempt (of 100) returned the following error: 'Cannot connect to the Analysis server on computer WIN-6NABPNJ48C2. Check that Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Management Objects Collection Hot Fix KB936081 is installed on your machine,' ". However, this Hot Fix is already installed.

Cause

This problem occurs when you are missing the Data Miner / Analyst's Workstation prerequisites, shown below:


Unfortunately, Microsoft no longer publishes the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Feature Pack December 2008 version, only the incompatible 2007 version. You must contact Microsoft to download the required 2008 version.

Resolving The Problem

Contact Microsoft to download the required Feature Pack for Microsoft SQL Server 2005 (December 2008 version - English).
