BKI0024I message return code meanings

Question & Answer

Question

What do the return codes for the BKI0024I messages issued at the end of a Data Protection SAP® backup mean?

Answer

The message "BKI0024I Return code is: X" is issued at the end of a Data Protection for SAP® backup. There are 3 valid return codes for this message:

0: Indicates that the backup service request completed successfully without any warnings or errors.

1: Indicates that the backup service request completed successfully and all data was backed up but there were warnings or errors reported. Look at the earlier sections of the log for BKIxxxxE and BKIxxxxW messages to determine the problem.

2: Indicates that the backup service request was NOT completed successfully. Look for BKIxxxxE messages in the log file to determine the problem.

Any return code that is not 0,1,2 would indicate that the process failed before completion and the return code may have come from the operating system or another application than Data Protection for SAP® .
