Troubleshooting
Problem
Why does the bhosts command show a host in "unreach" status?
Resolving The Problem
When bhosts
reports a host as "unreach" or unreachable, it refers to an LSF server host where the LSF lim
daemon is running, while sbatchd
is not. Check if sbatchd
is running on the "unreach" host by following these steps:
- Log-on to the "unreach" host
- Check if root
sbatchd
is running. For example,
$ ps -ef | grep sbatchd
lsfadmin 23838 20183 0 09:38 pts/0 00:00:00 grep sbatchd
If it is not running there, startup sbatchd
by running this command on that host as the LSF administrator user:
$ badmin hstartup
sbatchd
keeps exiting on its own every time you start it up, check that host's sbatchd
log (by default located in LSF_TOP/log/
) for any error that indicates why it may be exiting and try to fix that. Also, check system logs on that host to see if sbatchd
is crashing.
