BCP delivery fails on 64 bit windows and 64 bit Sql Server

Troubleshooting


Problem

After upgrading to SqlServer 2005 SP2, BCP delivery no longer succeeds. The customer uses Sql Server Aliases

Symptom

Error = [Microsoft][SQL Native Client]Named Pipes Provider: Could not open a connection to SQL Server [53].

Error = [Microsoft][SQL Native Client]An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections.
