Batch uploads are stuck in progress. What should I check?

Question & Answer

Question

Batch uploads are stuck in progress. What should I check?

Answer

  1. Check the batch upload attachments tab.
  2. If multiple attachments are displayed on batch uploads executed even though only one file is attached, note down the directory displayed on the batch uploads tab
  3. Navigate to the directory on the file system (SSM Home/directory) displayed above
  4. Check the dates of the file that were not attached by the user.
  5. In one instance where this problem was encountered, the SSM Home attachments directory was copied from another site instance. Since a directory for the batch upload already existed, the batch uploads were stuck.

Guidelines:

  • Ideally the file system within attachments folder should be "exactly" consistent with the objects/ids in the database.
  • If you are starting from a blank schema on an existing environment the data/attachments folder should start empty as well.
  • If you are refreshing or copying the database from another instance and if you also receive the attachments folder it should be restored as well
  • If you are refreshing or copying the SSM database from another site instance and if you do not expect to receive the attachments folder then ensure to clear the data/attachments directory.??

If the batch uploads are still stuck even after checking above provide the Websphere and SSM logs (opt\emptoris\apps\#####\perm\SSM\gateway\logs) along with the Batch upload execution time batch upload definition (export file) to Emptoris Support for further diagnosis.
