Resolving The Problem
|
Important Note: Starting in i 7.1, AnyNet (a method used to run SNA communications traffic over IP) is no longer supported. Users of AnyNet are encouraged to migrate to Enterprise Extenders as a replacement. For information about migrating to Enterprise Extenders from AnyNet, see the Migrating from AnyNet to Enterprise Extender topic in the IBM i Information Center. |
The following is basic AnyNet debug information:
| 1. | Are you able to PING the Fully Qualified Name of the iSeries server (host.netid.sna.ibm.com) you are trying to reach? Yes - Go to step 2 below. No - Do the following: a) Ensure the TCP/IP interface is started (CFGTCP, Option 1). - Interface is started - Network issue (check Step 1b below). - Interface is not started - Start interface, and retry PING. b) Check the HOST TABLE entry (CFGTCP, Option 10). - HOST TABLE entry correct - Network issue (check Step 1a above). - HOST TABLE entry incorrect - Correct HOST TABLE entry, and retry PING. |
| 2. | Check the status of the APPC Controller Description (Linktype is *ANYNW). The controller must be Varied On or Active for communications. If not created - Refer to DCF Technote N1017530 for AnyNet Configuration/Setup. If status is Varied Off - Vary on the APPC CTLD. If status is Varied On - No device descriptions under it but ready for communications. If status is Active - Device descriptions are under it, and it is ready for communications. |
| 3. | On the operating system command line, type the following: NETSTAT Press the Enter key, and select Option 3. Under Local Port, do you see the two APPCove jobs--one with Listen status and the other with UDP status? Yes - Go to Step 4 below. You should see the QAPPCTCP job listed. No - Vary off the APPC CTLD, and recycle AnyNet. |
| 4. | On the operating system command line, type the following: WRKSBS Press the Enter key. Look for QSYSWRK, and type option 8 in front of it. Is there a QAPPCTCP job listed? No - Ensure that Step 2 above is completed. APPC CTLD must be varied on. Vary off/on the APPC CTLD and recheck for job. If necessary, recycle AnyNet. Yes - Check job log of QAPPCTCP. If there is still a problem, run the WRKJOB command, and select Option 10. Still having the problem?
