Version 2.11 (Build ID Z2BT05J)
Note:
This Build ID Z2BTxxx supports the IBM System x3850, x3950, and x3800 Servers and the IBM eserver xSeries x260, x366, x460, and MXE-460 servers. See the Change History to determine the version to use for each specific Server. Some Versions only support specific Servers. More Servers may be added to Versions, as IBM's test process progresses. Download the latest Change History from the Web to determine Version to Server support.
Fixes:
- None.
Enhancements:
- Flashing from Windows 2008 is now supported.
Version 2.11 (Build ID Z2BT05I) x3800/x3850/x3950/x3950E/x260/x366/x460/MXE-460
Fixes:
-
Some corrections to Platform Event Trap (PET) alert severity levels.
- Previously, fan insertions were indicated as Non-Critical. Now it is indicated as Okay. Previously, hard drive insertions were indicated as Critical. Now it is indicated as Okay. Previously, hard drive removals were indicated as Okay. Now it is indicated as Critical.
-
Correct PET alert Postpone Timer function.
- Previously, some PET alerts were not sent when the Platform Event Filter (PEF) Postpone Timer capabilities were used.
-
Eliminate error message during flashing of the BMC under Linux.
- Previously, when the -C parameter is used, the following error message was seen under Linux:
RSTTODEF.CFG: RESETBMC.CFG: GETCMDS.TXT: UPDATEBB.CFG: FAILED TO OPEN. error flashing BMC firmware: -1
This has been corrected and eliminated.
- Previously, when the -C parameter is used, the following error message was seen under Linux:
Enhancements:
-
The serial mux is switched to the BMC at DC power off time to prevent not being able to use the Escape key sequence.
- Previously, if the serial mux was switched to the system before system power is turned off, the BMC was unable to detect the Escape key sequence due to hardware limitations. As such, the command to turn the system power back on using that interface to the BMC could not be used.
-
Detect and prevent the use of unsupported procressors on certain board levels.
- Not all system boards are equal in function. Some system boards do not support some processors. Unprotected, the use of such processors will not allow the system to function due to a variety of symptoms including a thermal trip very soon after system power is turned on. Most of the possible combinations of boards and processors were already being detected and prevented. A previously overlooked combination is now also being detected and prevented.
-
Use with 1Gb EtherNet switches.
- Previously, communication with the BMC over the EtherNet channel could not be performed when a 1Gb EtherNet switch was attached.
-
Suppress the control logic's false indications of 1.5V power good faults.
- Previously, during activities such as PCI hot plug switch usage or system resets, 1.5V power good faults would be reported by the server. The control logic indication which was monitored for that condition are now ignored since they are falsely indicating the fault condition during the activities listed.
Version 2.08 (Build ID Z2BT05F) x3800/x3850/x3950/x3950E/x260/x366/x460/MXE-460 OpenIPMI and field issues
Fixes:
-
Prevent rare detection of Fuel Gauge nonredundancy for the incorrect VAC.
- Previously, 110VAC or single power supply Fuel Gauge errors were being indicated on rare occasions even though the system was using 220VAC or 2 power supplies.
-
Return nonzero completion code for Set Watchdog Pre-Timer functions.
- Previously, the completion code was zero but the function was not performed since it is not supported. Now, the command returns an indication that the function was not performed.
Enhancements:
-
Recognize and report MMIO address routing errors.
- Previously, these errors were not isolated and the resulting error description did not guide the customer toward a device driver issue.
-
Indicate both Quad A and Quad B bus errors if they occur at the same time.
- Previously, only a Quad B bus error would be reported when both Quad A and Quad B bus errors were present.
Version 2.07 (Build ID Z2BT05E) x3800/x3850/x3950/x3950E/x260/x366/x460/MXE-460 IPMI 2.0 and new scalability chip sets
- Added IPMI 2.0 support.
- Added DHCP support.
- Added Firewall support.
- Improved Serial Over LAN (SOL) support.
