Troubleshooting
Problem
This document describes the GO DISKTASKS interface.
Resolving The Problem
As a part of normal system maintenance, it is a good idea to get a regular listing of the layout of the storage of your machine. One of the best ways to do this is by using the tools that are available on the DISKTASKS menu (obtained by typing GO DISKTASKS at the command line). The collection option (Option 1) allows you to do a one-time collection or have it collect repeatedly on a weekly or monthly basis. However, the report is not summarized and printed unless you select the option to print (Option 2) from the DISKTASKS menu. Something to keep in mind is that running the collection overwrites the data from the previous run. A way to avoid losing this information and add customization to the reports is to write a CL program and submit it yourself on whatever schedule you like. A sample CL program follows.
The sample program makes two print-outs: the first prints out libraries by size, without object-level detail, the second prints libraries by size with object-level detail. The print-outs are usually several pages and several hundred pages, respectively.
| Caution: This program is provided as is and is meant only as a guide. |
