Question

How do I have the database instance automatically start during system bootup on an AIX or UNIX system?

Answer

To automatically start the instance we can use Fault Monitor. The Fault Monitor to start the database instance during system bootup.

The system command, db2fm - DB2 Fault Monitor, is documented in the Command Reference; and guidance is provided in the topic "Fault Monitor Facility for UNIX Based Systems" from the Data Recovery and High Availability book. This topic, and information about the db2fm command are also available from the DB2 Version 8 Information Center (and subsequent information centers).
