Automatic check-in and check-out is interrupted by "Windows Security" prompt when logging on to a Windows managed resource with Privileged Access Agent

Troubleshooting

Problem

Launch the Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection (mstsc) client. Specify a target computer or managed resource. A "Windows Security" prompt is displayed. After you select a credential pool and enter a justification, automatic check in and check out fails because the Windows Security prompt is displayed.

Symptom

  1. Log in to Privileged Access Agent.
  2. Launch the Remote Desktop Connection application.
  3. Specify the target computer.
  4. Click Connect.
The Windows Security prompt is displayed. You cannot close or ignore the Windows Security prompt.

  5. The Windows Security prompt, as seen on Windows 7 and Windows 10 (Version 1511)
  6. Click Yes in the Privileged Access Agent prompt.
  7. Select the required credential and provide a justification.
  8. Click OK.
Privileged Access Agent attempts to inject the selected credential but the Windows Security prompt disrupts the automatic check-in and check-out process.
