Authentication issue when submitting workload to a cluster with Windows AD plugin enabled

Troubleshooting


Problem

With AD plugin configured, you can log on the GUI with AD accounts successfully. But the client app cannot submit jobs to the cluster.

Error in api.client.log

2020-03-27 14:52:38.081 W. Europe Standard Time ERROR [26544:8944] api.base.actions.BaseAction - Security error: Authentication failed. Incorrect user name or password, or the security plugin setting (specified in the EGO_SEC_PLUGIN parameter in the ego.conf file on both the client and server) are incompatible. {(0x91015f98:1, 17, 90008)@(SoamEgoSecurityWrapper.cpp:229)}

Same Error in SD.log

Security error: Authentication failed. Incorrect user name or password, or the security plugin setting (specified in the EGO_SEC_PLUGIN parameter in the ego.conf file on both the client and server) are incompatible.

The same user can log on the GUI successfully with the DOMAINABC\myclient username and the password.
