Troubleshooting
Problem
The following error appears when trying to view a graphic artifact in IBM Rational Requirements Composer (RRC). "The content that you requested could not be generated because the converter application is not available. ID CRRRW8011E The converter application could not be reached. It may not be running or there may be a network issue that is preventing the RM server from contacting the converter application. Refresh your browser to generate the content again. If the problem persists, Ask your administrator to verify the converter application is running."
Symptom
The systemout.log displays the following error:
[6/15/13 11:20:51:823 PDT] 00002d8d webcontainer E com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.WebContainer handleRequest SRVE0255E: A WebGroup/Virtual Host to handle /converter/htmlgen has not been defined.
Cause
The Virtual Host is not configured properly in the WebSphere Application Server (WebSphere Application Server).
Environment
The converter application is deployed in WebSphere Application Server.
Resolving The Problem
Change the Virtual Host for the converter war to the one that was created for the Rational Requirements Composer application. The navigation menus might be a little different between WebSphere Application Server versions.
- In the WebSphere admin console browse through the left navigation to get to the applications. Once the applications are listed, select rm_war.
- Select Virtual hosts and take a note of the value for the virtual host used.
- Now go back and check the value for the virtual host for the converter_war application. If the value is not the same as the rm application, select the virtual host that is used for rm.
- Select OK to change the value.
- Restart the application.
