Attempting to install multiple interim fixes for IBM Business Process Manager (BPM) results in a md5 digest matching error in Installation Manager

Troubleshooting


Problem

When you try to install multiple IBM Business Process Manager interim fixes that are bundled together, IBM Installation Manager cannot install the interim fixes. Installation Manager indicates that the md5 digest values do not match.

Symptom

You see an "Update failed" message in Installation Manager. The following screen capture shows an example of this message:

The screen capture references the CRIMC1029E and CRIMC1085E error messages. It also states that "'md5' digest values do not match."

The message is similar to or identical to one of these messages:

[28cd1aa840a531a13a9bc03b186158e4] (Expected).


'md5' digest values do not match:
[050e210a4aebf99b0e4104e47a813fa1] (Actual) vs
[de0b47997b0d05668359811ce406fe26] (Expected).

Cause

When the interim fix is extracted, the files checksum is modified. This modification causes the md5 digest value to be mismatched with the stored md5 digest value in the interim fix metadata.

Resolving The Problem

To resolve the issue, complete the following steps:

  1. If you do not have copy of the original interim fix, download the interim fix from Fix Central.
    Note: Do not extract the .zip file.

  2. Start Installation Manager.

  3. From the Start page, click File > Preferences > Repositories.

  4. From the Repositories page, remove the existing location, which is an extracted folder.

  5. Click Add Repository.

  6. In the Add Repository window, browse to the InterimFix.zip file that you downloaded from Fix Central.

  7. In the Repositories page, click OK.

  8. From the Installation Manager home page, click Update and complete the interim fix installation.
