Assign an Item to a Category

About this task

Youcan assign different hierarchical and searchable groupings to allthe items in a category. The items in the category inherit the attributesassigned to that category.

You can assign anitem to a category from the Catalog Management screen.

To assign an item to a category:

Procedure

  1. Navigate to Catalog ManagementScreen. To navigate to the Catalog Management screen perform thefollowing steps:
    1. Log in to Sterling Business Center as anItem Administrator.
    2. From the Products home pageclick Manage Catalogs in the Catalog panel.
    3. The Catalog List screen is displayed. Click the CatalogID hyperlink corresponding to the catalog for whose categoryyou want to assign an item.

      The Catalog Managementscreen is displayed.

  2. The Catalog Hierarchy tree is displayedin the Catalog Management screen. From the tree select the categoryfor which you want to assign an item.
  3. The Items and Services panel is displayed.Click Add Item.
  4. The Basic Item Search dialog box is displayed.Perform the following steps:
    1. Enter the search criteria.
    2. Click Search.
    3. From the Items panelthat is displayed select the check box adjacent the item you wantto add. To assign multiple items select the check box adjacent therequired items.
    4. Click Select.

      The selected items are displayed in the Itemsand Services panel in the Catalog Management screen.
