Troubleshooting
Problem
Users are unable to upload any files using Aspera Connect.
In the Connect Console, customer see errors like:
Insufficient permissions Source: Operation not permitted.
Aspera Connect itself does not have access to the user's desktop folder and therefore fails to do the upload.
Environment
MacOS Catalina (10.15)
Diagnosing The Problem
If a user reports an issue with Aspera Connect failing when transferring files from their Desktop for example, it is due to a Security & Privacy setting option introduced in Catalina (10.15).
Resolving The Problem
In order to ensure the user are allowed to transfer using Aspera Connect on MacOS, do the following:
Click on Mac > System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Select the Privacy tab > Files and Folders
Enable access for the Aspera Connect application by ensuring it is selected
If affected users don't have the options checked, this may cause the above error.
