Problem

Specific browsers were tested with Advanced System Management Interface on the FSP when used in a direct network connection (not using the HMC proxy). However, those Web browsers may not be the only ones that work.

Resolving The Problem

Specific browsers were tested with Advanced System Management Interface on the FSP when used in a direct network connection (not using the HMC proxy). However, those Web browsers may not be the only ones that work. The table below documents tests that were conducted by IBM Support on various Web browsers with various operating systems. The list may be incomplete, and no support statements are being made with the data contained in this document. For the list of officially supported Web browsers, you should refer to the following:

Beyond that, support attempted connection to ASMI directly using the following combinations of operating system and browser. No extended diagnostics were performed, only an attempt at connection using any known techniques for obtaining connectivity.

Note: Power5 FSP uses 40-bit encryption that is not supported by SSLV3. Firefox may successfully connect to Power5 systems by using the tip in Rochester Support Center Knowledgebase document New, Using Firefox for ASMI: Database 'DCF Technotes (IBM i)', View 'Products', Document 'Using Firefox for ASMI'.
