Application-specific permission settings do not grant Local
Activation permission for the COM Server... when logging on via ccr.exe

Troubleshooting

Problem

An upgrade has been performed from Controller 8.3 to Controller 8.5, following the Proven Practice method of taking screeenprints of the Controller Configuration and reinstating the same settings after uninstalling 8.3 & installing 8.5. This error then occurs when first login attempt is made via ccr.exe, before a prompt for database or user name happens.

Symptom

The attempt to log onto Controller via ccr.exe fails and the following message appears in the Event Viewer:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: DCOM
Event Category: None
Event ID: 10016
Date: 7/2/2010
Time: 3:53:32 PM

Computer: MY_APPSERVER_ID
Description:
