Question

How to manage data transfer access

Cause

Answer

This document describes how to set up Application Administration for Data Transfer.

While this focuses on Administering Data Transfer, it can be applied to any other component available in Application Administration.

1. Sign into Navigator for i.

Expand System and select Application Administration.




2. If this is you first time in Application Administration you may not see any components under Navigator for i or Client Applications.

If that is the case, you must first register the applications.

a) Click on the Applications button.


b) Click on localhost, then click on the Add button.




It will then make this available to be administered.
Do the same for System i Access for Windows.




c) Press the OK button to finish the registration.

Press the refresh button to watch the progress.



When it's done it will bring you to the main Application Administration screen and you will notice there are new options/components to administer.,

3. Click on the Client Applications link on the left.



4. Click on the blue arrow(twisty) next to System i Access for Windows to expand the selection.
You will then see the Data Transfer component.


5. Click on the twisty next to Data Transfer and every option under Data Transfer.

You will then be able to customize access to each function.

Please note that you can't click the customize button for a container, you must select each sub component to to

customize access via a group or user.


5. When you select the customize Button. Here you can select groups, users and/or default access options:

When your done just press OK.
