Problem summary

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: APPLY PTF                                    *
    ****************************************************************
    z/CMS does not enable user of Diagnose X'214' (Pending Page
    Release), which while not supported in a z/Architecture virtual
    machine in AMODE 64 for memory above 2G, is supported in such a
    virtual machine in AMODE 31 for memory below 2G. This limitation
    affects performance. The change fixes the issue by deleting two
    instructions (SAM64 and SAM31) that surround the Diagnose x'214'
    verification code during storage initialization.

    Some systems may protect lower numbered ports up to 1024.
    GetShopz will occasionally identify 1024 as a free port and
    attempt to use it. This results in exiting with no messages and
    no warnings in any logfile. If the first port does not work due
    to an access issue, GetShopz now tries to find a different port
    to connect through instead. This new port, if found, is saved in
    GLOBALV. If GetShopz cannot connect through a different port
    (none are available or user specified a bad port), then an error
    message and RC are displayed.

    GetShopz was incorrectly reconstructing certain files,
    particularly tersed SERVLINK files from older PTFs. The hash
    value of the final uploaded and detersed file would not match
    the hash value of the initial file on the workstation. The bug
    was fixed without any changes to how users interact with
    GetShopz.

Problem conclusion

  • Problems identified in summary were resolved with code changes
    mentioned therein.
