Error description
RMF used by z/OS running as a guest of z/VM with VM66532 will fail if the VMGUEST RMF option is in effect. In this environment, RMF will fail, and z/OS may take SVC dumps and ultimately return with a non-zero completion code with a return code reflecting the interruption encountered by RMF. The RMF failure is caused by an error in the way z/VM formats a diagnose x'204' response buffer. To avoid RMF failure, ensure the NOVMGUEST RMF option is in effect. If RMF is not running, ensure VMGUEST is not specified in any ERBRMFxx parmlib members for a Monitor I data gatherer session. By default, the NOVMGUEST option is used by RMF when the NOVMGUEST or VMGUEST options are not specified by any parmlib members. If RMF is running, the option can be queried using the 'F RMF,D ZZ' console command. If the VMGUEST option is present, the 'F RMF,F ZZ, NOVMGUEST' console command can be used to change the setting dynamically.
