VM66602: TDMF Z/VM AGENT ISSUES MESSAGE GTD2306S THIS AGENT SYSTEM HAS DETECTED THAT THE MASTER SYSTEM IS NO LONGER ACTIVE TDMF/K

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• TDMF z/VM agent falsely detects that the Master is dead.
  
  When using ONLINESOURCE the VM Agent will wait 500ms per volume
  when it brings the volume online. If there are enough volumes
  or multiple VM Agents the wait can exceed a 1 minute timeout
  used by Agents to detect the Master as dead.
  
  In this case the Master was not dead and the migration
  succeeded but finished RC12.

  *                      GTD2306S is issued for a z/VM Agent.    *

  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF.                      *
  ****************************************************************
  The z/VM Agent waits 0.5 seconds before taking volumes back
  online after being swapped. For a large number of migration
  volumes this accumulates and eventually the z/VM gent considers
  the master system non-responsive and terminates the migration.
  

Problem conclusion

• The initial interval time for the IOSLRES simulation code is
  decreased from 500ms to 5ms which allows for much larger volume
  numbers when ONLINESOURCE is specified.
