Error description
The z/VM spool interface should provide which files have data on a specific spool volume. It should also show which spool volumes have data for a particular file. This would be useful in conjunction with the DRAIN command for managing spool volues especially when a spool volume must be taken offline or replaced. To be complete the solution would have to support system data files such as NSS, DCSS, UCR, NLS, IMG, and TRF files.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users of Diagnose D8 or the IUCV *SPL system * * service who want to determine which spool * * volumes a spool file occupies or want to * * obtain information about or process system * * data (NSS/DCSS, UCR, IMG, NLS, and TRF) * * files * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: APPLY PTF * **************************************************************** A 256-bit bitmap is created for each spool file to indicate which spool volumes hold pages of the file. Bit n of the bitmap corresponds to the volume in slot n of the CP-Owned list, and bit 0 is unused. Diagnose X'00D8' is extended by adding a new field, DD8PBMSZ, to the input parameter list (DD8PARM0 COPY), giving the length in doublewords of a guest buffer area to hold the bitmap. The bitmap area is located immediately after the spool file block area in the issuer's buffer. A new queue type value, DD8DATA (X'01'), designating the System Data File Queue can be specified in the DD8PTYPE field of the Diagnose X'00D8' parameter list and causes information about files in that queue to be returned to the issuer. A new queue type value, SPGSDF (4), designating the System Data File queue can be specified in the SPGQUEUE field of the *SPL parameter list (HCPSPGBK COPY) and causes information about and data from files in that queue to be returned to the issuer.
