VM66355: PEVM66173 LPAR STORAGE SIZE NOT MAINTAINED ON IPLS 22/11/14 PTF PECHANGE

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• If an LPAR storage size is defined on less than a 2G boundary,
  the storage size might be increased to the next 2G boundary
  in IPLS after the initial LPAR activation.
  

Local fix

• Use the IPLPARM STORE=XXXX to preserve the INITIAL LPAR storage
  configuration size when an initial storage size less than 4GB is
  desired.  Otherwise, STORAGE statements in the system
  configuration file or IPLPARM STORE=xxxx can be used to preserve
  the INITIAL LPAR storage configuration size.
  

Problem summary

  During system IPL, z/VM may bring storage online up to an amount
  that is a multiple of 2GB, and more than was specified in the
  partition activation profile.
  

Problem conclusion

• PEVM66173 At system initialization, z/VM will begin with
  storage that is already online even if not a multiple of
  2GB, up to 4GB, and then re-configure storage as specified
  by system configuration STORAGE statements.
