This support provides enhancements to improve the reliability,
availability and serviceability of DirMaint. The changes
    include:

    * Automated IVP (Install Verification Procedures) - Automated
tests to validate the various DirMaint servers and their
interaction with each other and the rest of z/VM.
    * File Protection - Improvements to the DIRM FILE command so
that well-known files are not accidentally placed on an
      incorrect disk.
    * Backup Correction - Changes to the DIRM BACKUP function to
backup files that are not on the PDF (Primary Directory Files)
      disk, e.g. CONFIG* DATADVH.

Comments

  • The following changes have been made to DirMaint:
    * Automated IVP (Install Verification Procedures)
      - DIRM IVP commmand allows an authorized user to start a
combined IVP run on dirmaint, datamove and satellite
servers or obtain the combined results from the dirmaint
        server.
      - DIRM DATAMOVE IVP command allows an authorized user to
start an IVP run on a datamove machine or obtain the
        the results from the machine.
      - DIRM SATELLITE IVP command allows an authorized user to
start an IVP run on a satellite machine or obtain the
        the results from the machine.
      - An automated IVP is begun as part of DirMaint new day
        processing.
      - The results of the automated IVP are sent as a file to the
initiator or can be obtained using the IVP STATUS command.
Each test is documented in Appendix G of the DirMaint
Tailoring and Administration Guide. The documentation
includes a description of the test, test override property
descriptions, possible warnings that are generated for a
test and recommended guidance to resolve the issue that
        caused the warning.
      - New configuration properties have been added to CONFIG
SAMPDVH and CONFIG DATADVH files. These properties include:
        > IVP_DISABLE_TEST specifies specific tests that should not
          run.
        > IVP_MAX_DURATION specifies the maximum time that the IVP
may run before it is considered to have failed.
        > IVP_NEW_DAY_START value controls whether the IVP is
started by new day processing (DVHNDAY) which runs by
default once a day at approximately 5 minutes after
          midnight.
        > IVP_NOTIFY_FOR specifies when notifications from a
scheduled IVP run should be sent to the system progammer
or other personnel responsible for maintaining the
          DirMaint product.
        > IVP_NOTIFY_TO specifies the user to receive notification
          of a scheduled IVP completion.
        > IVP_PARM specifies a configuration parameter to override a
          test default.
        > IVP_RUNMODE determines whether the IVP will execute when
DirMaint is in the RUNMODE= state specified in the CONFIG*
          DATADVH file.
      - Enhanced the DIRM DASD, DIRM FREEXT and DIRM USEDEXT
commands to not list overlaps between a special user ID
        ($DIRECT$, $PAGE$, $SPOOL$ and $TDISK$) and the related
allocation extents (.DRCT., .PAGE., .SPOOL. and .TDISK.)
when the extents exactly match or include cylinder 0.
This avoids warnings on those extents which are expected
when special user IDs are defined as recommended in
"Special user IDs in the default user directory (USER
DIRECT)" section in Chapter 7 of the z/VM: Installation
        Guide.
      - The DIRM DATAMOVE and DIRM SATELLITE commands support the
        RLDCODE and RLDDATA commands.
    * File Protection
      - The DIRM FILE command defaults to placing new files (ones
that do not already exist in the dirmaint machine) on the
dirmaint machine's A-disk. It is enhanced to not default
well-known files to the A-disk but instead place them on
        the recommended disk.
        > Filetype PROTODIR files are placed on the E-disk by
          default.
        > CONFIG* DATADVH files are placed on the D-disk by default.
    * Backup Correction
      - The following files have been added to the set of files that
        are backed up:
        > CONFIG* DATADVH files on the B, C or D-disk,
        > * PROTODIR files from the E-disk,
        > DIRMAINT DATADVH file from the A-disk,
        > LOCAL DATADVH file from the E-disk,
        > POSIXUID CONTROL file from the E-disk,
        > RPWLIST DATA file from the E-disk.

The following messages are added by this support: DVH2183W,
    DVH2184W, DVH3900I, DVH3901I, DVH3902W, DVH3903W, DVH3904W,
    DVH3905E, DVH3906I, and DVH3907I.

Help files are provided for the new IVP command, new messages
and updated commands enhanced by this support.

The following z/VM 7.2 publications are updated to reflect this
    support:
