Problem conclusion
- z/VM 6.2This APAR offers full exploitation support for processors of type 2965 with its support of 3 channel subsystems and 3 subchannel sets and for LinuxONE processors models of processor type 2964 and 2965. In addition the capabilities of a processor of type 2964 are extended. For all processor types it is possible to define new function types RCE (Regional Crypto Enablement) and ISM (Internal Shared Memory vPCI Adapter). For one ISM adapter, up to 255 virtual functions can be defined. An RCE adapter can be defined, but does not support virtual functions (VF). The allowed range of function IDs is extended to 0 to x'22FF'. New checks are implemented at build production IODF time: - If the PNETID of functions related to a VCHID is not unique, the new error message CBDA910I is shown: Duplicate PNETID @1 on processor @2 for following PCIe function VCHIDs: @3 - If the PNETID of chpids related to a VCHID is not unique, the new error message CBDA916I is shown: Duplicate PNETID @1 on processor @2 for channel paths: @3 - If a function needs a related chpid to be operational and no related chpid can be found, warning message CBDA911I is shown: No matching PNETID and LPAR in processor @1 for following functions (FUNCTION : PNETID : LPAR; .. ): @2 @3 @4 (To see the explanation for a message, type MT msgid (e.g. 'MT CBDA911') on a HCD command line, and then press F1 to get the message help.) - z/VM 5.4This APAR offers limited exploitation support for processors of type 2965 and 2964. Regarding definition and reporting support it offers the same support as the z/VM 6.2 release (see above). Dynamic Activation is limited. Software activation (with or without hardware validation) will ignore PCIe functions, CS5 CHPIDs, PNETID attribute and devices on subchannel set 3. Hardware activation is possible for a processor of type 2964 or 2965 only if no CS5 CHPID is defined and not more than 128 coupling CHPIDs. Also PCIe functions, subchannel set 3 devices and PNETID will not be allowed for a full activate. If you have defined the new processors and try to activate such a processor on a system where this APAR is not installed, you may receive MSGCBDA267I No processor rules module found for processor. The module names can be CBDP0252 or CBDP0253 for z/VM 5.4 and CBDP0103, CBDP0108, CBDP0252, or CBDP0253 for z/VM 6.2.
