Comments

  • This APAR will provide support for the IBM z13 (z13s) D/T2965
and must be applied as part of installing z/VM on a z13. The
following items are supported in z/VM 6.2.0 and z/VM 6.3.0:

      - Updates to SYSEVENT QVS for LPAR Group Absolute Capacity
        Capping

in addition, the following items are supported in z/VM
    6.3.0 only:

      - LPAR Group Absolute Capacity Capping. This PTF is required
when LPAR Group Absolute Capacity Capping is in use. This
function allows an absolute capacity cap to be set, by CPU
type, on a group of LPARs. This allows each of the
partitions to consume capacity up to their individual limits
as long as the group's aggregate consumption does not exceed
its absolute capacity limit. The z/VM support includes
use of this information in functions that exploit or report
processor capacity information for the purpose of tolerating
        it's use.
      - DSVBK lock statistics are added to monitor record
        D0 R23 MRSYTLCK.
      - The STSI 1.2.2 CPU speeds are added to monitor records
        DIR4 MRMTRSYS and DIR18 MRMTRCC.
      - Single Increment Assign Control is exploited by dynamic
memory upgrade to ATTACH a storage element and ASSIGN a
single storage increment, rather than automatically ASSIGN
all storage increments in the storage element.
      - The z/VM algorithm which performs I/O to the crypto adapters
for APVIRT shared crypto guest support is updated to account
for the faster speeds of modern crypto adapters. This
benefits all guest programs using APVIRT support, including
the zcrypt cryptographic device driver for Linux on
        z Systems.
      - Crypto performance monitor record D5 R9 is updated to
include the interval time between processing
        guest enqueue and dequeue operations.

The following hardware architectures will also be supported
    with this PTF:

      - Virtual PCI Devices for SMC-L

Note: it is always recommended to apply the compatibility APARs
to z/VM before upgrading your hardware. z/VM 6.3.0 can
be installed directly on the z13 and service for VM65577
and VM65716 applied immediately afterward. For z/VM 6.2.0
however, at a minimum, APAR VM65007 must be applied before
z/VM will IPL successfully on the z13. It is recommended
that you install the z13 compatibility PTF for
z/VM 6.2.0 before moving your z/VM 6.2.0 system to the
          z13.

To support this APAR, new editions of the following
          publications are available:
