VM65468: MAPMDISK REMOVE FAILS WITH RC12 FOR RESIDENT PAGES

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• MAPMDISK REMOVE incorrectly gives RC12 and discontinues
  unmapping when a resident page is found.  During release
  processing the PGSPRBN bit is reset, but is tested later.
  When PGSPRBN is found to be off, it is assumed
  the page was never mapped and terminates the unmap process.

  MAPMDISK REMOVE may incorrectly give an RC12 and discontinue
  the remove mapping function when a resident page is encountered.
  MAPMDISK REMOVE calls page release processing which resets
  the PGSPRBN bit for the page.  The REMOVE function then
  checks the bit, finds it off, and incorrectly assumes the page
  was not mapped.  RC12 is then reflected to the caller and
  the unmapping function is terminated.
  

Problem conclusion

• The problem was fixed by restructuring the MAPMDISK REMOVE code
  to no longer test the PGSPRBN bit following the release of a
  resident page.
