errors ranging from storage overlays to queries returning on
threads that did not expect that return.

Various errors on thread returns and CMS and application ABENDs
may occur when using REXX sockets.

Problem conclusion

  • Two main problems are corrected:

      1. Serialization of the nameserver (eg: ensuring there is
only one resolve, gethostbyname, or gethostbyaddr call
         active at any given time)

      2. Several variations of storage overlay problems

The serialization of the nameserver is corrected by using
private storage areas for each thread in the call stack,
instead of relying on a global work area.

The storage overlay problems are corrected by properly saving
and restoring register 0 across calls and IUCV interrupts.
