Error description

  • SMAPI API VIRTUAL_NETWORK_VLAN_QUERY_STATS returns
additional/incorrect output which does not match the API's
documentation. The returned output from the API contains
extra, undocumented values between output parameters
    reason_code and port_array_length and after port_array_length.
    For example:
                                                                   .

         SMAPI APIs VIRTUAL_NETWORK_VLAN_QUERY_STATS,
    VIRTUAL_NETWORK_VSWITCH_QUERY_EXTENDED and
    VIRTUAL_NETWORK_VSWITCH_QUERY_STATS return additional/incorrect
output which does not match the API's documentation. The
returned output from the APIs contain extra, undocumented
values, which include null terminators and embedded binary
    zeroes, between output parameters.

Problem conclusion

  • DMSSSLQS $EXEC, DMSSSVQE $EXEC, DMSSSVQS $EXEC, VNVLANQS
HELPMSOC, VNVSWIQE HELPMSOC and VNVSWQST HELPMSOC have been
updated. The output for SMAPI APIs
    VIRTUAL_NETWORK_VLAN_QUERY_STATS,
    VIRTUAL_NETWORK_VSWITCH_QUERY_EXTENDED and
    VIRTUAL_NETWORK_VSWITCH_QUERY_STATS APIs has been
    changed / re-designed. DMSSSLQS $EXEC
    ( VIRTUAL_NETWORK_VLAN_QUERY_STATS ), DMSSSVQE $EXEC
    ( VIRTUAL_NETWORK_VSWITCH_QUERY_EXTENDED ) and DMSSSVQS $EXEC
    ( VIRTUAL_NETWORK_VSWITCH_QUERY_STATS ) have been updated to
change the output for the APIs. For all three APIs, new
xxx_length output parameters have been added. For API
    VIRTUAL_NETWORK_VLAN_QUERY_STATS, the changes include combining
output parameters port_array and nic_array into new output
    parameter port_nic_array.
         Additionally, VNVLANQS HELPMSOC
    ( VIRTUAL_NETWORK_VLAN_QUERY_STATS ), VNVSWIQE HELPMSOC
    ( VIRTUAL_NETWORK_VSWITCH_QUERY_EXTENDED ) and VNVSWQST HELPMSOC
    ( VIRTUAL_NETWORK_VSWITCH_QUERY_STATS ) have been updated to
document the changes to the output of the APIs.
                                                                   .
NOTE: Installations using the Unified Resource Manager for
integrated systems management of z/VM must apply a specific
    bundle for driver D93 (z196 / z114) and driver D15
(zEC12 / zBC12) before applying the PTF for VM65290. Bundle
details, when available, can be found in the 2817DEVICE,
2818DEVICE, 2827DEVICE, or 2828DEVICE hardware PSP bucket and
also at the z/VM URM web page:
    http://www.vm.ibm.com/service/vmrequrm.html
Applying the PTF for APAR VM65290 before the specific bundle
will cause incorrect results, and possible failures, to occur
while managing z/VM through the Unified Resource Manager.
