Abstract

INCORROUT CLUSTER SWITCHOVER AND FAILOVER SHOULD USE JOB QUEUE
QSYSNOMAX

Error Description

Cluster switchover and failover submits the IASP vary on/off job
to the job queue associated with the job description for the
invoking user profile. Most user profiles use job description
QDFTJOBD, which uses job queue QBATCH.

QBATCH often has a limit of the number of jobs that can be
running and the subsystem is sometimes held, resulting in delays
or apparent hangs waiting for the vary jobs to be run.

Problem Summary

Cluster switchover and failover submits the IASP vary on/off job
to the job queue associated with the job description for the
invoking user profile. Most user profiles use job description
QDFTJOBD, which uses job queue QBATCH.

QBATCH often has a limit of the number of jobs that can be
running and the subsystem is sometimes held, resulting in delays
or apparent hangs waiting for the vary jobs to be run.

Problem Conclusion

Switchover and failover will always use job queue QSYSNOMAX for
IASP vary jobs only. CRG exit programs will continue to use the
job queue specified in the job description for the CRG exit
program user profile.
