Abstract

OSP-IWS CLIENT LIBRARY SHOULD USE CDATA FOR LARGE STRING FIELDS

Error Description

The client library does not make use of CDATA when sending
requests.

Problem Summary

The client library does not make use of CDATA when sending
requests.

Problem Conclusion

The IWS client library does not make use of CDATA tags for large
elements of type string in SOAP requests. The sending of large
elements of type string that contain a large amount of
characters that are prohibited to be sent as part of an XML
document, such as the less than and quotation mark characters,
without the characters being encoded, would result in the client
library spending a lot of time encoding the characters and thus
affecting the performance of the entire transaction.

The IWS client library has been updated to use the CDATA tag
when encountering a string that contains XML prohibited
characters for strings with a size greater than 500 bytes.

The IWS client library has also been updated with a more
efficient algorithm when dealing with strings that are less than
500 characters.
