Error description

  • In Rational Developer for i (RDI) 9.6.0.11, editing RPG source
which has character literals with double-byte characters in
fixed calc fields can lead to parser errors being reported in
the editor view, and program verifier error messages. This can
occur for a source file with CCSID 1399 or 5035, and connecting
from RDI with a user profile set to CCSID 1399.

RDI may incorrectly calculate the column positions for a source
line with double byte characters in literal strings for CCSID
1399, leading to RPG parser errors.

Local fix

  • Use a user profile with CCSID 5035, instead of 1399, for
    connecting to RDI for editing.
