Error description

  • Using the Remote Systems LPEX Editor in Rational Developer for i
(RDI) 9.6.0.11 to prompt the CL command PARM with a special
value clause (SPCVAL) which specifies a single asterisk
character as the From-Value part of one of the special values is
incorrectly diagnosed as invalid and cannot be prompted in the
    CL prompter dialog.

    Example:
         PARM KWD(Z) TYPE(*CHAR) LEN(1) SPCVAL((* A)) PROMPT('Z')

This is different from APAR SE73959 where a negative number for
the To-Replacement-Value part of the SPCVAL clause is a problem.

Local fix

  • Enclose the asterisk character in single quotes.
    For example: SPCVAL(('*' A)
