Abstract

BRM-MAINT-INCORROUT FIXES - DECEMBER 2021

Error Description

Please load and apply the December 2021 PTF.                    

Problem Summary

It is important to keep all systems in a BRMS network at the    
same level of BRMS PTFs.                                        
                                                               
Fixes included in this PTF may reference enhancements. More    
information on these enhancements can be found on the BRMS wiki:

Fixes in this PTF:                                              
1. In 7.3 and later, WRKMEDIBRM restores of library objects may
not create the requested restore *OUTFILE set in the recovery  
policy.                                                        
2. In 7.3 and later, BRMS parallel backups of an object list    
using more than 4 stand-alone parallel devices may fail with    
MSGSQL0100 and MSGCPF6708.                                      
3. In 7.3 and later, BRMS turnkey created virtual device        
descriptions are not refreshed by the command INZBRM            
OPTION(*DEVICE) when they are no longer in use.                
4. In 7.3 and later, BRMS append volume selection has been      
enhanced to select volumes having the same media policy        
retention requested by the backup.                              
5. In 7.3 and later, BRMS has been enhanced with SQL services  
that provide a view of the control group backup status.        
6. In 7.3 and later, BRMS has been enhanced to manage BRMS SQL  
services during FlashCopy processing.                          
7. In 7.3 and later, email notifications may not be sent when  
using the BRMS 'from address' function with installed national  
language versions other than English.                          

Problem Conclusion

Load and apply this PTF.                                        
                                                               
Note: When loading BRMS PTFs, the system needs to be out of    
FlashCopy mode for the PTF to apply.                            
To verify the FlashCopy status of a system is *END, enter the  
following command:                                              
   CALL PGM(QBRM/Q1AOLD) PARM('FLSSYSSTS ' '*DISPLAY')          
                                                               
After the BRMS PTF is installed, do the following to enable the
BRMS plug-in for the IBM Navigator for i (web browser).        
                                                               
  Enable the BRMS plug-in for the IBM Navigator for i.          
  Note:  ending the http admin servers may affect other non-BRMS
  users.                                                        
                                                               
From System i:                                                  
1. Enter the commands to end the http admin servers:            
      ENDTCPSVR SERVER(*HTTP) HTTPSVR(*ADMIN)                  
      ENDTCPSVR SERVER(*IAS) INSTANCE(ADMIN2)                  
2. Wait for the http admin server jobs to end or terminate them.
      Use command:  WRKACTJOB SBS(QHTTPSVR)                    
3. Restart the http admin servers:                              
      STRTCPSVR SERVER(*HTTP) HTTPSVR(*ADMIN)                  
      STRTCPSVR SERVER(*IAS) INSTANCE(ADMIN2)
