SE74819: IN IBM RDI 9.6.0.9 IN RPG REFACTOR, RENAME ACTION DOES NOT PREVENT CHOOSING A DUPLICATE NAME

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• In IBM RDi 9.6.0.9, when editing ILE RPG source, a field or
  constant name can be selected and the Refactor > Rename action
  (ALT + SHIFT + R) can be performed to rename all instances of
  that name in the source.
  The dialog  prompts for the new name to be assigned, but this
  action incorrectly allows the user to enter a new name which
  duplicates a name already used in the source.  This results in
  invalid source.
  The feature should not allow the user to enter a name which
  conflicts with a name already in use.

  The Refactor Rename should not accept a new name which is
  already in use; doing so will invalidate the source and require
  the user to undo the changes or otherwise repair the source.
  

Problem conclusion

• This problem is fixed in the RDi 9.6.0.11 update.
